Mbabazi will see real nudity if he crosses karuma says Gulu women pressure groups

Gulu women pressure groups have today vowed to stripe naked before Amama Mbabazi once he steps the Acholi land.
Mego Maria Atto from Pit Odong ki Mon pressure group said at agathering of Gulu pressure groups that Amama Mbabazi had considered Acholis as rebels.

Mrs. Concy Oboma, the Vice chairperson, NRM Gulu municipality and also the chairperson of Oyeng-yeng pressure group said they are denouncing Mbabazi because he does not want Acholi land to develop yet they are struggling day and night trying to bring up youths, orphans and widows.

Susan Laker Onono, the chairperson of UPDF widows and orphans association Acholi sub region says as widows and orphans of Northern Uganda, they do not want any disturbance from uncommitted leaders.

Gulu women pressure group has over 400 women consisting of widows, people living with HIV and orphans who carry out activities like bricklaying, poultry, outside catering among other activities to sustain them.

Mego Martina Nyeko, a veteran NRM party member in Gulu district said she is very angry with Amama Mbabazi because he has brought poverty and all sorts of trouble for the Northerners.
Amama Mbabzi is scheduled to visit Gulu on the 14th of July to declare
his willingness to run for the 2016 presidential race under the NRM
party ticket.

Teachers warned against drinking alcohol during working hours

Gulu District Education Officer reverend Ocheng Vincent Ochen has cautioned te achers to avoid drinking during working hours or else risk losing their professions.
Vincent today an interview with our reporter from gulu town said cases of teachers’ involving in drinking alcohol during their working hours have become rampant in the district with three cases reported since the year began with all of them being arrested by police.
Vincent says the education act and Gulu district education ordinances does not allow a teacher to drink alcohol within his work place and not beyond 5 pm and any teacher found guilty shall face the disciplinary committee or risk losing his job.

He however cautioned that head teachers and school management committees should report any incident whenever a teacher is caught drunk not beyond 5 pm to his office in order to take legal.
On the same note Byron Okee a teacher in Patiko prisons primary school in Palaro Sub County in Gulu district was arrested by the community last Monday 22nd/6/2015 after he was found drunk during his working hours.
Okee is still being detained in Gulu central police station, James Asubu OC CRIME Gulu central police says he will charge of nuisance by the court of law.

Three arrested for selling government drugs

Three people have been confirmed arrested for allegedly selling government drugs in private clinics in Pader district.
Adong Hilda , a mid wife who is in charge of Amilobo HCII Ngootoo parish in Atanga sub-county was arrested on the 22nd this month and taken to Atanga Police out post where she revealed that she got the drugs from one of the pharmacy in Pader town council.
The police today together with the team of medical officers, police CIDs LC’s and the neighbors of Tam Yat Pharmacy allocated along E.Y Komakech Roads, launched a search in the pharmacy and got some drugs marked Uganda government not for sale mainly Panadol and coatem .
Acting DPC, Mr. Onek Romeo Ojara said they arrested the Lalobo jusper David a clinical officer and the owner of the pharmacy and his wife Akello Harriet together with Adong Hilda when she came to report after she was released on police bond from Atanga police post.
He said the trio are now in police custody with CRB No. 030/2015 and they are waiting to appear before court anytime from now.
DHO Pader Dr. Alex Layoo in an interview confirmed the arrest but said it’s not wrong for them to exchange service with service, explaining that people can come and say they don’t have money but need treatment from a private clinics which their owners can make them work in gardens in exchange of drugs But should not be government labeled drugs.

Crime Preventers restricted to detect and report crimes only

Crime Preventers have yesterday been mandated to concentrate on the role of assisting the state to detect and report crimes than engaging in politics.

The Prime Minister Dr Ruhakana Rugunda made the comment while responding to the accusations raised by Aswa County MP Reagan Okumu that crime preventers are becoming partisan while conducting their duties.

Rugunda said that Crime preventers are a creation of the Uganda police which recruits and trains them on crime detection and self-defense and therefore they should serve police.

He says Police which supervises them must ensure that they stick to their mandate and not to cause crimes instead.

Gulu gets solar powered street lights

Gulu municipal Council has acquired a total of 35 solar Powered street lights that is already being placed in the Central Business district of the town to help light the dimly light town.
Mr. Francis Byarabanawe, the Gulu Municipal town clerk while talking to Journalist from his office this morning revealed that this solar Powered streetlights will be installed at a cost of 1,576,000 /= per pole adding that these lights are cost effective and that they will be in phases until the whole town has been covered with the street lights.
The town Clerk further said that the installation of the street lights delayed because the contractor, Home Builders Limited had to import the equipments from India adding that the Municipal have received 14billion shillings from African Development Bank reiterating that the monthly interest FROM this money of 34million will be used to put more street lights in the town.
He further urged the Locals especially the Shop owners that the poles will be close by to be very watchful so that the Solar Powered Lights are not vandalized and to boost the security of the town greatly.

Northern Ugandans tipped off on Amama Mbabazi-Museveni fall out

Northern Ugandans have been urged not to be hood winked into believing that the Amama Mbabazi-Museveni fall out is genuine since the two have been at the pillar of the NRM since its inception.
The call was made by the Kilak County MP, Hon. Gilbert Olanya when appearing on Gulu fm yesterday.
Olanya said that the NRM’s historicals have originally made a well laid out plan to rule Uganda for 50 years and they will do anything, including deceit, to achieve that goal.
He noted that such a plan was started by the alleged fall out of Gen. David Ssejusa from the system which did not work out.
Olanya said that Museveni and Mbabazi orchestrated the fall out, with the aim of diverting Ugandans’ attention, after sensing that an opposition alliance will be hard to defeat.
Amama Mbabazi last Monday announced his intention to contest for presidency against President Museveni and out laid his 8 point program, urging president Museveni to step aside because he had failed.
He was sacked as Prime Minister in September 2014 and removed as NRM Secretary General in January 2015.
Museveni however quickly pointed out that Mbabazi was the one to blame for the failures of his government since he had been in the system all these while.
MP Olanya Gilbert however said the two politicians are causing a drama to divert attention of voters from a united opposition ahead of the 2016 General elections.

ICC Shall continue holding Dominic Ongwen until trial date

The International Criminal Courts, have confirmed having Dominic ongwen
under their custody amidst uprising from the community

The ICC says they will continue holding the alleged war lord commander of the LRA in the Sinia brigade, Dominic Ongwen though there are concerns that have started arising over his identity.
Recently in the case sheet information on Dominic Ongwen, his place of
birth had raised complains among journalists from dove’s nest hotel during a one day training, by the international criminal courts on how to report about the ICC and its procession.

Mr Ongwen who is being tried in the Hague, his case information sheet, does not bear the name of the place wher he hails from but only the year in which he was born 1975 which is indicated.

The former war lord place of birth also does not match with the places
in the Gulu district where the suspected is alleged to have committed
the crimes, the case sheet information states Ongwen is a resident of
coorum, Gulu,Amora district,kilak county,Northern Uganda.

Accurately there is no area in Gulu district called coo-rum but coo-rom
and there is no amora district but Amuru which had formerly been under
Gulu district.

A journalist who says he had been covering the insurgency in northern
Uganda and part of the teams who carried out survey after the LUKODI
incidence says that the figure presented by the international criminal
court that 40 people were massacred is not true.

Denis Ojwee the journalist who works with vision group says he in his
survey after the incidence confirmed 46 people killed in the massacre.
He also says the massacre happened on the 19th/5/2004 but not the
30th/5/2004 as recorded by the international criminal court.

Phakiso Mochochoko the director jurisdiction, complimentarily and
cooperation division in the ICC yesterday during a press conference at
the Northern Uganda Media Club says the court have confirmed that it
is Dominic Ongwen,the accused criminal that they have in their
custody.

He says Ongwen had admitted himself that he is the accused and all his
information is true when he was asked by the judges of his identity.

He however said issues concerning Dominic Ongwen’s biological parents
is not a matter of the ICC and court have set date to start hearing the charges
against him in September 2016.

Former RDC officially hands over office to join politics

Catherine Lamwaka the out gone resident district commissioner for Gulu
district today, officially handed over office to her deputy Andrew
Awany in a bid to join the race for Gulu woman member of parliament
run come 2016 general elections under the NRM party ticket.

Lamwaka,while handing over office to her deputy says,
during her reign as the resident district commissioner for Gulu she
was committed as head of security in the district with the aim to ending insecurity
that had ravaged Gulu town early this year which saw many of Boda Boda
riders murdered by gun men.

The former RDC says, though she is leaving office, there are still incidences of
criminals in the district which the new RDC work hard to fight.

Andrew Awany who was deputy resident district commissioner for Gulu took over from Catherine Lamwaka says, he will commit himself to fighting insecurity in the district according to the constitution.

He however appealed to the district officials and security team to join
hands with him to work together and bring stability in the district.

Councilor caution parents against negligence

The LC1 Chairperson of Layibi Central Sub ward has cautioned parents against neglecting their children and those under their care.
While speaking to Gulu FM, Mego Rose Alunyu said the number of street children in Gulu is on the rise because most parents and guardians have neglected their duties.
Her call comes at a time when Gulu is being overwhelmed by the ever increasing number of wander children.
Mrs. Rose also said her area will soon embark on the construction of a community road along Pece Lane and urged those living in swampy areas to evacuate in time to avoid being inconvenienced.
She also appealed to the community to be vigilant on security matters and avoid playing loud music at night.

Fight against nodding syndrome records a milestone

The fight against Nodding Syndrome has made a huge gain in containing the disease according to Hope for Humans, a non-governmental organization fighting the syndrome in Northern Uganda.
Speaking to Gulu FM today, Ceasar Okot, the Programs Manager said there has been no new case of the disease in recent months.
He said there has been increased awareness among the locals on how the disease is spread and this has reduced cases of victims being abandoned by caretakers.
He, however, appealed to people not to give up the fight but continue showing love to children suffering from the disease and not wish they were dead instead of over burdening them.
Nodding Syndrome is a disease that causes frequent convulsion in its victims and neither a cure nor causes have been identified to date.
Hope for Humans help provide drugs, psychosocial support and nutritional aid to those suffering from the disease.
